This one-day workshop is intended to give industrial designers and engineers the skills necessary to express their design concepts through code. They will learn how to generate 3D meshes and adjust specifications with minimal effort by adopting an object-oriented approach to coding. Once finalized, students will be able to export their design into a 3D printer-friendly format for fabrication.

Students will build their very own parametric modeling program in Java with Processing.org. Processing is a free open-source programming language, user community, and development environment built on Java. The final output will be exportable as an Android app, JavaScript web app, or standalone desktop application.

Minimal knowledge of programming is needed to excel in this course. We will start from the ground up with basic programming concepts all the way to building an interactive graphical user interface.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to bring their own laptops.
